When industry legend Amy Hennig announced she was at the helm of a new studio back in 2019, the gaming world waited on bated breath to find out what kind of games her studio would be working on. Rumours abounded that this new studio, Skydance New Media, could be working on some licenced properties. These rumours were founded when last year, it was confirmed that Skydance New Media is working on a new, narrative-driven action-adventure game in collaboration with Marvel.

Amy Hennig Is Working On Another New Star Wars Game

Today, we learned that a second game is in development at Skydance New Media. Announced via their website, Hennig and co. will be collaborating with Lucasfilm Games in order to develop a new, narrative-driven, action-adventure game set in the Star Wars universe.

While the details so far are as vague as with the previous Marvel game, it is early days so these games are a long way from being ready to show off. All we do know is that Skydance New Media was set up specifically for the purpose of creating AAA games with strong, cinematic storytelling. This is what Amy Hennig is known for since her time as lead writer of the Uncharted series.

This is not the first time Hennig has been tied to a Star Wars project, either. Back in 2015, she was working with Visceral Games on an unannounced Star Wars game under EA's stewardship of the licence. According to Nolan North, this game was apparently going to take queues from Uncharted 4 and even the cancelled Star Wars game Star Wars 1313. Unfortunately, this project was shelved when Visceral Games was shuttered by EA in 2017.

Is this new game a revitalisation of the project Amy Hennig was working on back at Visceral? Are we about to get Uncharted in space? Only time will tell, as it will be some time before further details are revealed. For now, all we can do is hope that this project does not go the same way as some of the previous projects Hennig has worked on. Now with her own studio and little corporate oversight to stop them, we can be cautiously optimistic that this is the time that the Amy Hennig Star Wars game we want to see finally gets made.
