Season 9 of Apex Legends (named Legacy) is confirmed, and the new season is sure to bring some more explosive gameplay, as well as our new Legend Valkyrie (or Valk), and a new weapon, the Bocek Bow.

So, when is Season 9 of Apex Legends releasing? And what's the tea on the battle pass?

Let's check out the trailer below first, and get hyped for the Legacy season.

When is the Apex Legends Season 9 release date?

As confirmed by Respawn Entertainment, Apex Legends Legacy (Season 9) begins on May 4. The season should be updated on your platform and ready to play from 6pm BST/10am PT/1pm ET.

How much does the Apex Legends Season 9 battle pass cost?

All Apex Legends battle passes have set the player back 950 Apex Coins, so the likelihood is that Season 9 will b the same.

There will also be an offer to pay 2800 Apex Coins to unlock the first 25 tiers of the battle pass.

Apex Legends Season 9 Legend - Valk

Valkyrie or Valk is our new Apex Legend, and the daughter of Titanfall 2 antagonist pilot Viper is bringing her Titan-esque brand of war to the battle royale. Valk, voiced by Erika Ishii, will be available to unlock and play from May 4 (with either 750 Apex Coins or 12,000 Legend Tokens).

Apex Legends Valk abilities

None of Valk's abilities have been officially revealed yet, but the leaked/datamined abilities look promising and pledge to bring Titans to Apex, in some small way (finally).

Basically, Valk doesn't like to be on the ground, and most of her abilities involve flying or hovering in some way.

Passive – VTOL Jets: Hold jump to initiate VTOL Jets – allows hovering in the air.

Tactical – Cluster Missile: Fire a rocket that explodes multiple times.

Ultimate – Skyward: Press once to prepare for launch. Teammates can interact with Valk to join the launch. Press again to launch into the air and skydive.

Apex Legends Legacy Legend Updates

A small change, but a good one. There will now be toggleable Badges in the Legend customisation screen, meaning you can switch to only viewing unlocked Badges, instead of scrolling through them all.

Low Profile will also be removed come Season 9, meaning Wraith, Lifeline, and Wattson will no longer take 5% extra damage.

Apex Legends Season 9 Maps

Not seen since February 2021, World's Edge may finally be returning to the map rotation, or it at least looks that way. The trailer treats us to glimpses of snowy POIs that could well be the World's Edge map.

Kings Canyon also appears in the trailer, with Octane running from a Rampart turret and a Horizon, through Artillery.

It also looks like Mirage Voyage will return once again to bring the party to the Apex Games, this time on Olympus, as we see a glimpse of "Oasis" in the background.

Along with this, the new map update, Infested Olympus, reports that “an infestation has sprung loose, strangling the city with roots and natural growths.”

Apex Legends Season 9 Weapons

With a new season comes a new weapon, and this time it's the Bocek Bow (pronounced "Boe-Sek"). With a new ammo type (Arrows), and described as "a powerful and deadly weapon, for those with the skill to wield it", the Bocek Bow should e a breath of fresh air for those bored by the current weapon pool.

The Bocek Bow enters the game as part of a new weapon class - Marksman. Other weapons now reclassified into this category are as follows:

  • G7 Scout
  • Triple Take
  • 30-30 Repeater

Along with the brand-new weapon come two new hop-ups, along with the removal of the Skullpiercer for the Longbow and Wingman.

New Hop-Up – Deadeye’s Tempo (Bocek Bow & Sentinel) Increased fire rate

New Hop-Up – Shatter Caps (Bocek Bow & 30-30 Repeater) Splits a single bullet or arrow into a shotgun pattern

In good news for fans of the Mozam, the Mozambique Shotgun now has 6 shots (up from 4).

The Peacekeeper Shotgun is back on the floor as ground loot, while the Triple Take Sniper moves to the Care Package.

Ash has her sights set on the Legends for Arena Mode

Apex Legends Arena Mode is finally coming! Discovered by Apex dataminer Shrugtal, snippets of info about Apex Legends Arena Mode have been slowly released over the past few months, most notably before Season 7: Ascension, and now the mode has been fully confirmed by Respawn, and much more information dropped in the trailer on  April 26.

Arena is Team Deathmatch style 3v3 mode, taking place on a much smaller scale, and features Ash as the instigator. We can't wait to see what Respawn have in store.
