Back 4 Blood Requires Online Connection To Be Able To Play

Back 4 Blood has a lot of hype to live up to. As the spiritual successor to the Left 4 Dead series, players have been waiting for a game much like this one for a very long time.

Fans are eagerly anticipating being able to take to the desolate streets and wipe out some Ridden, and re-engaging with the co-op zombie hunting experience. Of course, the game is built with co-op in mind, so fans are better off grabbing a group of mates to play - but of course, some will rather go it alone. But for those players, the experience could be a little more grating than hoped upon launch.

In a frustrating turn, it looks like players who might choose to go it alone in Back 4 Blood will still have to maintain an internet connection to do so, despite not needing to for gameplay reasons. As one Twitter user puts to developer Turtle Rock the question of if players can play the game offline with AI teammates, Turtle Rock themselves respond with the bad news. “We’re looking into ways we could support offline for the future, but you will need an internet connection to play at launch”, they say in a tweet response.

It looks as though the team are looking for a work-around to inject into a future update, but until that update materialises, solo fans will have to be connected to the internet to play, even by themselves. This problem is becoming less and less of a problem as gaming generations develop, and more players are more likely to have strong internet connections, but for those with untrustworthy connections, it could be a dealbreaker.

Fingers crossed this problem could be ironed out in a future update, as this is news that has disappointed many fans; chances are though, it won’t keep many of them away for too long.
