Battlefield 2042 Beta Leaked And It Apparently Starts This Week
We're all suitably hyped for Battlefield 2042 to drop, but it seems like we might be able to get a sneak peek earlier than anticipated, as the date of the early beta has been apparently leaked.
A listing on an Italian gaming product website, Media World, has the game up for pre-order, and alongside the listing, it said: "Pre-order this product by September 3 and you will receive access to the early beta of the game from September 6 to September 11."
The above wording has since been deleted, however, VideoGamesChronicle managed to get a screenshot prior to it being removed.
The Battlefield 2042 beta is due to drop this month (September), but if this leak is to be believed, we have mere days to wait before we can get our hands on it.
A rep for EA confirmed to GGRecon that the beta release date is September, but didn't give any firm dates.
What Editions Of Battlefield 2042 Are Available?
The Battlefield 2042 editions that are available to pre-order now are:
- Battlefield 2042: Standard Edition
- Battlefield 2042: Gold Edition
- Battlefield 2042: Ultimate Edition
If you pre-order any of the above, you will also be entitled to a few freebies, including the Baku ACB-90 Epic Melee Takedown Knife, the Mr Chompy Weapon Charm, the Landfall Player Card Background, and the Old Guard Tag.
What Do We Know About Battlefield 2042 So Far?
Loads of information has been dropping over the last few months, but a pretty exciting side note is that the game's bots will apparently be 'hard to tell apart from humans'.
Speaking to VG247, Ripple Effect Studios’ Justin Wiebe said: "We’ve tried to put a lot of effort into making them play just like a player would. So it would be really hard for people to tell the difference between an AI and a real human player because they will run around, they will drive vehicles, they will pick each other up, they will drop [each other] off at objective locations and things like that - it’s a very intelligent system."
They also dropped some info about Battlefield 2042's new sandbox game creator, Portal. The mode basically lets players build and create their own game modes. This is done by using content from a range of Battlefield titles.
