Battlefield 2042 Was Supposed To Feature Volcanoes And Tsunamis
Battlefield 2042 seems to be turning into one big missed opportunity. Though the gameplay has hooked a lot of people in, it's despite Battlefield 2042's many troubles.
Fans aren't best pleased with the game's bugs and misleading promotional materials, and it has led the title to crumble from a genuine competitor to Call of Duty's latest addition to a meagre husk of its promises. It's upsetting, but it's the reality of the latest Battlefield.
It was revealed recently that full-on skyscraper destruction was planned for the game but didn't end up making the cut, and now, there's a new reason to be disappointed in the game. Sadly.
Battlefield 2042 Reveals More Missed Opportunities
Adding to the growing list of things that almost made the cut in Battlefield 2042, it has been revealed that earthquakes, fire tornadoes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions were almost a part of the game.
Leaker Tom Henderson made the suggestion on Twitter, claiming that the features that didn't make it to the final game were shown in a presentation back in the summer of 2020. Due to time constraints, the team had to focus on the twister alone, making it the biggest environmental obstacle in the game.
"The game needed another year, man", he says wistfully in his tweet. While we'd love to have driven our ATVs through waves of lava, that's not everything Henderson has to reveal.
Battlefield 2042's Post-Launch Plans Are "F**ked"
In the very same Twitter thread, Henderson has revealed that this isn't as far as the disappointment runs for Battlefield 2042.
"Also, post-launch plans for the title are completely f**ked. So everything I said about all the post-launch plans before the game was released… just ignore it. These past couple of months have been exhausting… and I'm not even a dev!"
It looks like the disappointments with Battlefield 2042 just keep on coming. As Halo Infinite rules the roost and even Call of Duty: Vangaurd ties to turn it around, Battlefield 2042 just can't catch a break. It's going to be hard work for EA and DICE to dig their way out of this one - but fingers crossed they can manage it.
