Breath Of The Wild 2 Was The 'Most Talked-About E3 Announcement'
In case you needed any further proof that The Legend of Zelda wiped the floor with the competition at this year's E3, there are some cold hard facts that Breath of the Wild 2 was the most talked-about game at 2021's Electronic Entertainment Expo.
Despite Nintendo playing coy and claiming there wouldn't be an update on the much-hyped sequel to the Nintendo Switch flagship that launched in 2017, fans were on the money that the developer was saving the best until last. Away from the announcement of WarioWare: Get It Together and Metroid Dread, it was Zelda that stole the limelight.
Why was Breath of the Wild 2 the most talked-about game at E3?
We might've missed out on E3 2020, but promising to make up for this, the end of the Nintendo showcase was a treat for all things Hyrule. Alongside confirmation of two expansions for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, there was the reveal of a limited edition Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda. Although we were underwhelmed by a lack of info on BOTW2, there was a last-minute save with a glossy trailer.
According to an official Twitter blog, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 was the most talked-about game. Despite this, the trailer wasn't the most viewed. Instead, that honour goes to Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin's Elden Ring. Elsewhere, E3 is remembered for Battlefield 2042, Halo Infinite, and Forza Horizon 5.
There's an argument that Microsoft's showcase outshone Nintendo's, but it also seems weird that Starfield wasn't one of the most talked-about titles. In terms of who was talking about E3 the most, it was (unsurprisingly) the USA that was chatting about the event.

Coming in second, there's been plenty of buzz surrounding Respawn Entertainment's Apex Legends, while Happy-elements Inc's Ensemble Stars!, Square Enix's Final Fantasy, and Nintendo's Animal Crossing round off the Top 5.

Whichever way you look at it, E3 lived up to the hype of being this year's biggest gaming event. At one point, 23 of the top 30 trends on Twitter were about E3. And who said gaming isn't getting bigger in 2021?
