Crimsix Dedicates CDL Championship To Your Mum
It's been a long-time coming for Ian "Crimsix" Porter, as the most-winningest Call of Duty professional ever has notched up another championship chip after a range of rostermania rotations. Despite the gold medals slowing down in the twilight years of his career, Crimsix always gets at least one per season, and now he's managed to get his Vanguard token with a victory in the Call of Duty League Pro-Am.
The New York Subliners submerged the Los Angeles Thieves to become the fourth team to win an event in as many tournaments, highlighting the incredible level of competition in this season's CDL.
However, if you expected Crimsix to collect his winnings without chiming on the mic, you're sorely wrong, as he's dedicated the entire event to your mother.
Crimsix Extends Record Championship Haul With CDL Pro-Am Victory
As a crucial part of both of the dynasties in Call of Duty history (compLexity/Evil Geniuses and OpTic Gaming), Crimsix is no stranger to winning trophies. Going into Vanguard, the undisputed GOAT of the scene was sat on 37 chips, including a joint-record three World Championship rings, and was keen to add to his tally to fend off competition from a gaining Seth "Scump" Abner.
With the CDL finally including amateur teams in a professional format - the first of its kind in over two years, since the formation of the franchised league - a range of teams were looking for glory. Miracle amateur runs were on the cards, while teams such as Minnesota ROKKR experimented with a new roster, and both Atlanta FaZe and LA Thieves had a chance to trial their rejigged roles.
But it was a New York Subliners, also off the back of another roster change, who took the lion's share of the $250,000 prize pool.
New signing Matthew "KiSMET" Tinsley joined Paco "HyDra" Rusiewiez and Paul "PaulEhx" Avila operating under the leadership of Crimsix to beat LA Thieves in the final; the win coming as a huge overhaul considering the Subliners' last-place finish at both Major 1 and 2.
Crimsix Dedicates The Win To Your Mum
After already calling out ex-teammate Scump and OpTic Texas' Head Coach Raymond "RamboRay" Lussier earlier in the event, it was clear to see what mood Crimsix was in, and he didn't take any prisoners on and off the field.
Following the championship win, he added his own weird twist to Mother's Day (celebrated on May 8 in the United States), and dedicated the championship win to your mum. Not his own mother, but yours.
"It's Mother's Day. Call your mums, and maybe I'll call them too," Crimsix said as he signed off from his post-Grand Finals interview.
In reality, the Subliners man thanked his two new teammates for their success. After coming in to replace James "Clayster" Eubanks and Travis "Neptune" McCloud respectively, Crimsix hailed PaulEhx's aggression and teamwork before complimenting KiSMET's comms and discipline, as Call of Duty saw yet another stunning performance from an underdog roster.
