Cut Cyberpunk 2077 Content Could Be Added Back Via DLCs
Here's to a better year for Cyberpunk 2077 as CD Projekt Red's troubled sci-fi shooter is finally on track to become the defining game of next-gen consoles. With the tech title's development process spanning eight years, it's no surprise there's a tonne of cut Cyberpunk 2077 content.
From rumours of third-person cinematic scenes to one-night stands, the unfinished Corpo lifepath to a whole monorail system that's been discovered for fast travel, it's all (not) here. Now, there's a glimmer of hope that these features could be added in as part of the DLC dump.
As the dust settles on Cyberpunk 2077's troubled debut, developers are once again boarding the hype train and preparing to roll out the first of the game's free DLCs. When it comes to Cyberpunk 2077 DLCs, gamers already know it will have "no less" than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's 16 drops of post-release content. Alongside it giving hope to a whole new version of Cyberpunk 2077, it means there's plenty of room for the huge amount of content to be added.
Cut Cyberpunk 2077 content: Will we see it again?
According to GameFAQs, there are going to be big changes at CD Projekt Red. The source is apparently close to the company and wrote: "CDPR hurt themselves to keep investors safe and sound. Now devs are hearing plans of a No Man's Sky style comeback due to late June. The first two patches should come out mid-March, despite what's been said by top execs.
"There will be major departures from the studio in the coming months. Dev morale is on an all-time down and Sony is roasting our asses due to the gigantic volume of refund requests. There will be a meeting today with Sony execs to figure out a way to compensate players threatening with legal action. Sony Japan is specially furious".
When it comes to DLCs, they explained, "Morgan Blackhand's backstory and a nod to the Coporate Wars. The DLC's will add a lot to the crazy and cool ideas Mike [Pondsmith] gave us when we began briefing the project. You guys should have the complete game by the end of next year, if everything goes well". For those unfamiliar, Pondsmith is a game designer who previously worked on the tabletop Cyberpunk from 1988 and served as a consultant on the video game.

Eagle-eyed fans have been keeping their peepers on Cyberpunk 2077 and what else appears to have been given the chop. Vehicle customisation is another big miss, optical camouflage that would turn V invisible, and a snazzy thermal katana. The likes of the camo and katana could easily be added as part of a cosmetic DLC, while others have pointed toward the huge number of locked doors that appear around Night City. Just like Call of Duty: Warzone added an underground system as part of its Season 6 overhaul, it's easy to imagine the monorail also getting a new lease of life in a DLC.
It's no secret that Cyberpunk 2077 went through something of a rushed endgame when rumours circulated that it would miss its December 10 release. Even though the PC version has been largely praised, it's clear the PlayStation and Xbox versions weren't quite as fresh out of the box as they could've been. With this in mind, it makes sense several features were cut to ensure players weren't sharpening their pitchforks and facing another delay.
All in all, adding cut Cyberpunk 2077 content through free DLCs makes sense rather than charging already disgruntled fans for features they should've been able to enjoy for free. We'll have to watch this space and wait to see what's coming with the first Cyberpunk 2077 DLC.
