To say that CD Projekt Red struggled with Cyberpunk 2077 upon launch would be an understatement. The sci-fi shooter was supposed to live up to the developer's legacy of The Witcher games, but instead, we were left with a malfunctioning bucket of bolts that was panned.

Cyberpunk 2077 promised to keep the content coming, and while we're still waiting for its first DLC alongside the supposed multiplayer, the game's fan base is keeping Night City alive with mods. Effectively doing CDPR's job for it, the modding community is working hard to keep things fresh. The latest is a doozy, as now, flying cars have come to Cyberpunk 2077

How Are There Flying Cars In Cyberpunk 2077?

We've seen some impressive vehicular mods in Cyberpunk 2077. Alongside police chases and someone adding back in the planned metro system that CDPR cut from the main game, flying cars (and bikes) is one of the best. Hover cars are technically nothing new to the game, but normally, V is trapped on the ground while NPCs soar above them.

"Let There Be Flight" is the work of modder Jack Humbert and looks like a mix between Blade Runner and Back to the Future. The wheels of the cars even turn into thrusters like in Back to the Future, while riding a flying bike puts things in a nauseating first-person perspective.

So, what can you do with your flying vehicles? As well as escaping the traffic jams of Night City, you can land your flying car anywhere - including on top of buildings. Apart from enjoying the view from up there though, there isn't much else to do. Mastering flight is apparently a little difficult, but we're sure you'll get the hang of it.

What's Next For Cyberpunk 2077?

Modding is all well and good, but it's hardly the official expansion(s) CD Projekt Red has kept teasing. Although there was an impressive roadmap for post-release content, the devs were forced to focus on fixes and patches instead of creating content. As well as PlayStation removing Cyberpunk 2077 from its own store, shareholders tried to sue CDPR over allegations of misleading them.

Things are looking brighter these days, and Cyberpunk 2077 is apparently pretty great right now. As for what's next, CDPR CEO Adam Kicinski said in a recent earnings call, "Our focus will gradually shift to new exciting endeavors in both Cyberpunk and The Witcher franchise. Right now, the bulk of our teams are working on the Cyberpunk 2077 expansion that is targeted to be released in 2023." Who knows what's on the way and whether flying cars will be an official part of Cyberpunk 2077's future, but either way, we're flying high with the new mod.
