Doctor Who Crossover Is On The Way To Fortnite
What is it about Doctor Who that keeps it from working as a video game? On paper, the sci-fi drama should be perfect - a time machine with infinite alien worlds and eras to explore, monsters on every corner, and the threat of universal destruction always looming.
You'd think we'd have a banger of a video game on our hands by now, but the universe simply hasn't provided. There have been a few attempts at Doctor Who adventure games in the past that never really landed, and rumours of a Doctor Who LEGO game that could be a delightful adventure, but nothing concrete.
Doctor Who Is Coming To Fortnite
So we suppose it makes sense that the brand would say "allons-y" to a game that is already working nicely. Well, there goes the last of our V-Bucks. According to notable Fortnite leaker FNBRIntel, there is a new collaboration between Fortnite and Doctor Who on the way.
They report that the crossover is still very early in development, meaning that it's still a good few months away, but to know it's coming at all is certainly a treat. It's likely that this collaboration is to celebrate The Power of the Doctor, the final episode for Jodie Whittaker's Doctor, before Ncuti Gatwa arrives to take over the role.
What Will Be In The Doctor Who Fortnite Crossover?
We have no details as to what the collaboration will bring, but we're hoping that it'll extend beyond the typical skin packs. Having to take out Daleks or Cybermen like some IO-inspired enemies definitely sounds like a blast. We're also hoping there will be an array of Doctors and companions from across the years.
We're likely to get a skin for Jodie Whittaker's 13th Doctor, and given his appearance in the special, David Tennant's 10th Doctor too. Maybe a Glider and Back Bling will appear in the shape of TARDIS cosmetics - and if we're lucky, we'll get a little map integration with some Doctor Who baddies peppered across the map.
Remembering we had a disappointing Doctor Who crossover in Creative Mode, let's hope this one learns from the mistakes of that. We won't know for a hot minute what the collab will bring, but damn, are we excited to see what it's like. After all, there's no better way to see 13 off than with whacking a boar with a pickaxe. Probably.
