Fans Are Apparently Divided Over Elder Scrolls 6 Test Footage
The next instalment of The Elder Scrolls series is one of the most highly-anticipated game releases in history, or it will be if Todd Howard ever got out of second gear in its development. By the time we get to see it, Ulfric Stormcloaks corpse will likely have disintegrated, his ghost will have recaptured Windhelm, and his Thu'um will awaken any gamer in their sleep mocking their habituated desire for "Elder Scrolls Six, oOooh".
Bethesda Studios, now acquired by Microsoft, announced The Elder Scrolls VI back in 2018, however, since then the leaks have been far and few with no concrete updates from the devs.
With a gaping hole in the hearts of High Elves and Dragonborns worldwide, a recent leak has ignited the fizzling flame of excitement, by showcasing an early test-run video of the game.
Surfacing on Reddit, the now-deleted post showcased what appeared to be map testing on an "alpha test", spanning across a "grass/rock light" landscape. Despite its laggy state and clearly unfinished panorama, players have already begun picking it apart and the clip has seemingly divided fans.
Some Redditors have begun to predict that the game engine appears to be "Unity", differing from Skyrim's Creation Engine. The engine is also behind the upcoming Valheim title alongside other games such as Genshin Impact, Escape From Tarkov, and League of Legends: Wild Rift.
Another of Unity's titles is Rust, the survival game which has recently seen an influx of streamers such as Felix "xQc" Lengyel and Rachell "Valkyrae" Hoftsetter take inhabitance thanks to Offline TV. Other viewers of the clip instantly made the comparison, worrying fans.
Whilst many have torn apart the clip, others have decided that it could actually be fake. With the code "ES-VIRF alpha test" differing from the previous development codes used by the devs, it seems many have already written it off.
With the clip dividing fans, it's surely about time Mr Howard gave us something solid, right?
