Faker Has Been Preparing For His Return To Worlds By Going To Sleep At 9am

The sleeping patterns of gamers are not something that often comes with many benefits, especially for pros or streamers who like to dive into the depths of the night on their chosen grind.

But when it comes to the elite athletes of esports, a healthy sleep schedule can often be a small factor that separates the best from the rest. With a direct relationship to reaction times and general wellbeing, having the right sleep schedule can often make professionals perform a percentage better, which could be the deciding factor in a straight 1v1.

Which only makes it befitting that esports king of solo kills is already five steps ahead of his opponents, when it comes to his schedule.

Just as he prepared to light up the world stage after three years out of the limelight, Lee "Faker" Sang-Hyeok has started going to sleep at 9am...

In an interview with Ashley Kang, the Unkillable Demon revealed that he was already getting his body clock in shape, going to sleep at 9am in Korea, which works out roughly midnight in Iceland - the host of the League of Legends World Championships 2021.

When quizzed on the matter, Faker said: "Well, a part of it is me preparing for worlds, and I've been adjusting to the new time zone in advance."

To further his preparation, the three-time LoL World Champion also has an eating schedule, which he hopes will not be interrupted by Riot Games' travel plans as he gets escorted across the country on their own private jet.

The representatives from Korea's LCK will be flying to Iceland in a jet, provided by the developers, costing around $350,000. However, Faker's sceptical as to whether his usual Business Class seats are better.

He told Kang, "I'm positive as long as my seat is comfy and my meals are on time. But let's be honest, you can also stretch your legs in business class. I wonder what a private jet is like. I am curious."

Faker and the T1 side will first kick their venture off in the group stages, against whichever team progresses through the Play-Ins stage. In a bid to become the world's greatest for a fourth time, T1 also have 100 Thieves and EDward Gaming standing in their way, before a tremendously stacked playoff stage.

Maybe, just maybe, Faker's small margins of preparation will see him lift the trophy once more...
