Far Cry 6 Easter Egg Honours FC5's Legacy

The latest entry in the long-running Far Cry series was released last week to somewhat mixed reviews and fanfare, but fans have already discovered some of the subtle nods and references to past entries.

Far Cry 6 continues on with the formula set by the critically acclaimed Far Cry 3 back in 2012, with a large and exotic open-world to take in and a charismatic villain to topple. Back then, it was Vaas Montenegro - the insane tribalist turned brain-washed mercenary. This time, we get a special performance by Giancarlo Esposito as the ruthless dictator of Yara, Anton Castilla. 

What are the references to other Far Cry games?

While the newest game doesn’t have any explicit connection to the previous entries in its story, there are several things that potentially connect it to a larger Far Cry universe. On top of that, there is a reference to Ubisoft’s other behemoth franchise Assassin’s Creed, which has been trolling fans into attempting the old leap of faith. 

Back to Far Cry, fans have found a nod to the third game in a post-credits scene that provides a big hint to who and what the next entry could involve. There is also an easter egg referencing Far Cry 5, evoking the iconography of the Eden’s Gate cult with the Bliss flower. 

What and where is the Bliss Flower?

For those who didn’t experience the previous game in the series, Far Cry 5 took place in the fiction Montana locale of Hope County. Here, the villainous cult leader Joseph Seed ruled the roost, isolating it from the outside world. Seed used the Bliss flower due to its hallucinatory properties - allowing him to recruit followers by brainwashing them into obeying his twisted religious ideology

In Far Cry 6 the flower can be found during a side mission called The Seeds of Love, which sees the protagonist aiding the character Lorenzo Canseco in reuniting with his seven children. During one part of the quest at Oceguera Farm (when searching for the fourth child), Dani Rojas stumbles upon the Bliss flower in a pot bearing the logo of Joseph Seed’s Eden’s Gate cult. 

Interacting with the flower has you hallucinate, as a familiar green haze washes over you and a dancing woman appears in the jungle. Following her will eventually lead you to the next child, Riel, as you sober up from your trip.
