What is it with Xbox and doughnuts at the moment? The gaming company are no strangers to odd marketing, releasing an Xbox Series X fridge after a slew of memes online drew a comparison between the console’s design and the kitchen appliance, and now there’s Xbox Series S luggage to boot. But recently, Xbox has gotten deeply involved in the world of doughnuts. Apparently.

The recent collaboration with Krispy Kreme revealed the Nexus level doughnut, a sweet treat branded with the iconic green X logo across its top, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the company and spread some Xbox Game Pass Ultimate love in the process.

But now, an entirely different doughnut could have jeopardized the console’s biggest first-party title’s plans.

As a part of a separate Xbox-y collab, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts has revealed their Infinite Doughnut in Mexico, with a Master Chief helmet on the front, a chocolate base and blue glaze to promote Halo Infinite, which launched across the country on July 30.

It’s a curious collab for sure, but the most important part isn’t the doughnut itself - it’s the text of the tweet.

Halo Infinite Doughnut Potentially Leaks Release Date

“Why wait for November if we can start the festivities now?”, the tweet begins. “Xbox Mexico and @MexKrispyKreme celebrate 20 years of the Master Chief with a special edition Halo Infinite donut [sic].”

This might seem perfectly fine if it weren’t for the fact that Halo Infinite doesn’t currently have a release date - we can only expect it to come later this year.

The very fact that we could have the first look at when we’ll get to play Halo Infinite from a doughnut is brilliant, and if it’s true, then this doughnut will be a concrete part of gaming history. How very poetic.
