Ludwig Officially Announces Move To YouTube
YouTube Gaming fans, keep your eyes peeled because there's a big-name streamer riding into town. That's right, Ludwig is leaving Twitch for YouTube Gaming.
After becoming a full-time streamer in February, 2019, Ludwig "Ludwig" Ahgren went on to build a Twitch empire. Thanks in part to his button mashing skills in Mario Party 4, Ludwig has gone on to accumulate 3.1 million followers on Twitch. By the end of his subathon, he had not only beaten the record for the longest subathon held by Tyler "Ninja" Blevins, but also set the world record for the highest number of subscribers.
However, it seems that the Ludwig's epic Twitch reign is being drawn to a close as the streamer is moving exclusively to YouTube Gaming. In typical Ludwig fashion, he didn't make the announcement in a boring way either.
How Did Ludwig Reveal He Is Moving To YouTube?
Ludwig announced the big news in a tongue-in-cheek, metaphor-fuelled video in which he drives around in a vivid purple car (i.e. Twitch). Then, after he parks the car, the violet vehicle explodes. Not to worry though as Ludwig spots a shiny red car (i.e. YouTube) which is "pretty much the same one" only it's "a different colour". Seeming fairly unfazed by the burning car behind him, Ludwig hops in his new set of wheels and drives away playing music because 'he doesn't get in trouble for playing music in this car'.
The news wasn't a complete surprise as the head of YouTube Gaming, Ryan Wyatt, had already made a more diplomatic announcement on Twitter. However, Ludwig's explosive video caused much more of a stir from his fans.
The clip went on to be flooded with congratulatory comments from Ludwig's fellow streamers and fans, including Rachell "Valkyrae" Hofstetter and Thomas "TommyInnit" Simons. Timothy "TimTheTatman" Betar, who also made the big move from Twitch to YouTube, said: "LETS GOOOOOOO". Twitch even sent its well-wishes to Ludwig: "You're a mogul in every sense, Ludwig. Best of luck and keep doing big things out there."
Why Did Ludwig Leave Twitch?
Soon after finishing his final Twitch stream, Ludwig revealed a little bit more information as to why he decided to take the big step and join YouTube Gaming. In the video, Ludwig that his "partner contract with Switch ended in November" and decided to speak with YouTube just out of interest. The streamer stated that the more he talked with YouTube, the more the streaming platform seemed suited to the content he wanted to create.
Ludwig claimed that he couldn't go into the details, but by continuing to work for Twitch, he would have to be 'grinding' the hours. He claimed that the decision was influenced by a coin toss in which Twitch was the winner. However, when he brought the news to YouTube, the team fought hard to make him change his mind, which eventually made Ludwig make his final decision to take the leap and switch to YouTube.
Ludwig joins the plethora of big name Twitch streamers who have made the switch to YouTube. For example, in August, 2021 Ben "DrLupo" Lupo joined YouTube along with TimTheTatMan in September. In doing so, the duo joined Jack "CouRage" Dunlop and Valkyrae in the ever-building collection of YouTube-exclusive streamers. With such an abundance of popular streamers making the change, could even more be on the way in their new shiny red cars?
