A barrage of baddies is headed to Vanguard and Caldera in Season 5, as Activision has revealed that four of the most feared villains from the franchise's history are coming back to destroy Warzone once and for all.

Heading into the final season of Vanguard and Warzone, Activision has seemingly thrown caution to the wind and decided that this era of Call of Duty is to end in rubble and dust at the bloody hands of villains gone by.

Starting on August 24, Season 5 will bring four new operators into the mix, including the early Black Ops (2) antagonist Raul Menendez, Ghosts' betrayal-heavy Rorke, Modern Warfare's sunglasses-wearing Al Asad, and late Black Ops (3&4) assassinator Seraph.

Call of Duty Confirm Menendez, Rorke, Serpah, And Al Asad Operators

The four devious characters from previous campaigns are all joining a sort of sadistic suicide squad in Season 5, as Call of Duty has confirmed that the quarrelling quartet will all take over Caldera.

Coming on an Apache helicopter, the baddies will set Caldera alight with an erupting Volcano, and allow players to take evil into their own hands.

Season 5, named Last Stand, will see the characters arrive on a Caldera following the volcanic eruption

Why Are Menendez, Rorke, Serpah, And Al Asad Operators In Vanguard?

Not for the first time, Call of Duty is throwing its canon to the wind with this update, but with both games ending in two months' time anyway, why not?

Seraph, born in 2027, will accompany Menendez, who died in 2025, as fully fledged adults in the 1945 Vanguard timeline and late 70s/early 80s Warzone setting. However, realism in this era of Call of Duty was long thrown out of the window, so we might as well enjoy shooting these baddies many times over.

It's not yet clear as to whether all four characters will be available at Season 5's launch, or whether some might be filtered in with the mid-season update.
