Shroud Has Returned To Social Media Following A Month-Long Hiatus
Things have been quiet for Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek following the shutdown of Microsoft's Mixer streaming platform, but now, he's back on social media and has a message for his fans.
When Microsoft announced it would be pulling the plug on Mixer, there were obvious questions about what would happen to the likes of Tyler "Ninja" Blevins and Shroud. Doing nothing to alleviate those fears, Shroud dropped below the radar and has been keeping radio silence since June 22.
Shroud's last message was a heartfelt one to his followers where he said, "I appreciate the Mixer community and everything I’ve been able to do on the platform. I love you guys and am figuring out my next steps".
Now, he's back on Twitter and has posted a cryptic gif of an animated gun. We're as confused as you are about what this mean, but it suggests Shroud could've found a new place called home.
The loss of Mixer clearly hit Shroud and Ninja hard, but while Ninja was active on social media and even streamed via YouTube, Shroud has been keeping his head down. Maybe it had something to do with a new venture?
Microsoft decided to partner with Facebook Gaming, and although both Ninja and Shroud were offered the chance to go with the gaming giant, both declined. With Microsoft forced to buy the pair out of their contracts, Ninja reportedly netted a cool $30 million and Shroud a still respectable $10. Both were freed from Microsoft and allowed to pursue deals with Twitch and YouTube.
It's interesting to note that while Ninja's one and only YouTube stream racked up 160,000 concurrent views, he didn't sign with the streaming goliath. What the future holds for the superstar streamers remains to be seen, but if Shroud's long-awaited tweet is anything to go by, he's been a busy boy during his hiatus.
