Valkyrie has made an incredible splash in Apex Legends since her recent arrival in the Season 9 Update. She’s been incredibly popular in Arenas especially, as her vertical manoeuvrability puts her a step above the rest for getting to those hard to reach places, and has made quite the impression with Apex players everywhere. However, it doesn’t look like she’s impressed everyone.

Shroud Isn’t Impressed By Apex Legends’ Valkyrie

Popular streamer Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek hasn’t yet been impressed by Valkyrie’s abilities. More specifically, he’s underwhelmed by the way that the key bindings operate with her VTOL Jets ability. In a recent stream, he lists some of the legends that he feels are the game’s strongest - Bloodhound, Lifeline, Pathfinder, Wraith - and indicates that he doesn’t expect Valk to be joining their ranks any time soon.

Testing her out in the firing range, he was frustrated by her VTOL Jets in tandem with her jump. “Can I make it so that I only boost with the space bar, or is it always just gonna be with jump? That’s gonna be so annoying. I don’t think I’m going to be able to play this character”, he says.

Shroud is well known for using his scroll wheel to jump in-game, after his experience in CS:GO, using the space bar to bunny hop when necessary. This key-binding doesn’t lend itself well to Valkyrie’s playstyle, and it’s clear that Shroud isn’t intent on using her much beyond his experimenting in the firing range.

“Okay, I’m not playing this character, I’ll tell you that right now. That’s the first mistake that they overlooked. I’m not playing this character. I can’t do it.”

It’s a shame he won’t be able to curb his attachment to the scroll wheel as a jump input, as many fans are loving Valk at the moment across Apex Legends’ game modes. Consider it a word of warning to those of you so attached to CS:GO’s playstyle - it might cause some problems for you in Apex.
