Tfue Teases Potential Return To Fortnite For Season 5
We'd marked it as being on the cards for a while now, but with the shiny new Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 5 blasting open the Zero Point and teasing another Season X overhaul, it could be the final piece of the puzzle needed to bring Turner "Tfue" Tunney back into the game that made his name. Is it really time for a Tfue Fortnite return in Season 5?
Back when Epic Games decided to revamp Fortnite with Chapter 2, it wasn't just a new map that ground the gears of the pro-player community. Gamers raised their placards and abandoned ship in their droves with complaints mainly blaming skill-based matchmaking. Alongside Tfue, Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek, Jack "CouRage" Dunlop, Ben "DrLupo" Lupo, and Tunney's partner in crime, Darryle "Hamlinz" Hamlin, found pastures new.
Tfue Fortnite return: What's going on?
Posting to his followers on December 2, Tfue said, "Use code 'Tfue' and I’ll stream Fortnite tomorrow". He didn't offer any further details on it or whether this is the real deal, but still, it sent his followers into overdrive. Although some were sceptical that Tunney would go through with it, he really did jump on a Twitch stream to deliver his first impressions. It was a massively popular Twitch that reached nearly 800K viewers.
Does this herald his full-time return though? Back in the day, Tfue used to stream hours of Fortnite a week. These days, he pumps his time into Call of Duty: Warzone and seems pretty comfortable over in Verdansk. More recently, he's also been making the most of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, making him one of Activision's golden boys. Tunney's latest stream is only the second time he's played Fortnite since July.
Tfue Fortnite return: Will it be permanent?
Before we start heralding the return of the king, it's important to remember Tfue recently explained why he left Fortnite in the first place. In a podcast interview with Brand Risk, Tunney said, "Two years of cranking 90s was just too much. I had to spice it up and play other things. Plus, I felt like I milked the game so much that, like, me playing it was almost digging myself into a pit".
Then again, Tfue has had a reasonable break from Fortnite, and with Season 5 adding a tonne of new content, it could be enough to lure him back on a more regular basis. Even since the start of Chapter 2, Fortnite has changed a lot. In this season alone, we were introduced to the Crew subscription service, new NPCs, and a new currency. Here's hoping the above changes can make the game "fun" again for Tunney and he can take his seat where he belongs as the cream of the content creating crop.
