The Call Of Duty Pacific Map Size Is Much Smaller Than You'd Think

It turns out the previous leaks and rumours about the Call of Duty Pacific map size may have been wrong. While we can't wait to parachute into a brand-new version of Warzone, a new image suggests it may be much smaller than we thought.

It's out with the old and in with the new, as the tried and tested Verdansk is being overhauled. With Sledgehammer's Call of Duty: Vanguard hitting the ground running as 2021's Call of Duty, it was only a matter of time until Warzone integrated its bigger brother.

Call Of Duty Pacific Map Size: What Do We Know? 

Activision's ongoing battle royale, Call of Duty: Warzone, is no stranger to big updates. As a service game, it's designed to evolve and change over time - especially as new entries in the COD franchise are released. Caldera is the upcoming map replacing Verdansk, and is confirmed to be taking place in the Pacific as we swap the Cold War-era European architecture for a brighter, almost paradisal look. 

We've also seen some of the locales the island is home to, with previous rumours indicating it would contain a whopping 200 points of interest to explore and fight in - making it much larger than the last map. Some of the places we've seen so far make for a big change from Verdansk, with a secluded fishing village, phosphorus mine, submarine complex, and even a volcano.

The new Call of Duty Pacific is also going to dial back the years to fit in with Vanguard's post-WWII setting, including many of the weapons from the latest COD entry. This goes for vehicles too, as Raven confirmed there'll be warplanes to take to the skies in, along with some returning vehicles from Verdansk. 

Call Of Duty Pacific Map Size: What Else Do We Know?

Despite many of the rumours and leaks suggesting the map would be the biggest Warzone outing so far, new information points to the contrary. This comes courtesy of Modern Warzone, which stated: "Looks like the final version of Caldera is quite different from this one seen in the Secrets of the Pacific #Warzone event. Previous leaks from @VGC_News stated the island was larger than Verdansk. Seems like these were true and the island was reduced in size over time." 

Exactly how big the Call of Duty Pacific map will be is still unknown, as we don't have any official numbers on the size, but Modern Warzone continued: "This is why you should always take leaks with a gran of salt. Things change frequently during development of games. Just because something doesn't end up being true by the final release of a product doesn't mean it wasn't true at some point in time!"

In the Tweet from Modern Warzone, you can see two images. One being the previously thought outline of Caldera that looks significantly bigger than the other picture. Some users point out that without a point of reference to go off, or official measurements, that it's still just speculation. However, Modern Warzone is still convinced that everything points to the map being much smaller. Guess we'll find out soon.

Caldera is set to hit Call of Duty: Warzone on December 9, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
