It seems pretty straightforward from the outside looking in. Keep the boat in a straight line, and you're literally on cruise control all the way from import to export. However, for the 1,300-foot long Ever Given cargo ship, a slight mishap has cost the world's economy north of an estimated £7billion.

The cargo ship that has clogged up one of the busiest trade routes on the planet, the Suez Canal, has grabbed mainstream media headlines, cost billions of pounds, prevented my SAMSUNG Odyssey monitor to be imported from India, and become an internet meme sensation.

Now, the blockade has made its way to the Microsoft Flight Simulator, and it looks hilarious.

Mat Veloso, Technical Advisor to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, shared a TikTok video on Twitter, which shows one player taken flight over the canal and the whopping boat fully lodged in between both sides of the shore.

En route over the landscapes of Egypt, one Flight Simulator player received commentary from the pilot, who stated "If you look on your left, we will see the Suez Canal. This is where most of our world trade and cargo ships come through. Oh, and it appears we have a stuck cargo ship."

In order to get a closer look, the pilot announced "Ladies and Gentlemen, fasten your seatbelts as we are going to do a fly around where that cargo ship is at," before adding "Oh geez. It appears they have a big problem."

The latest news is that the cargo ship is set to be dug out later today (March 29) and set back on course with a high tide on its back. The Flight Simulator add-on will remain though for those that want to download it.

Maybe I can have a go when my monitor finally arrives.
