The internet exploded overnight following the dramatic moment that Will Smith slapped Chris Rock across the face during the Oscars Ceremony 2022. Unsurprisingly, it wasn't long before some popular streamers on Twitch shared their reaction.

La La Land accidentally being announced as Best Picture winner, Martin Scorsese falling asleep watching Eminem, and "Adele Dazeem". These are just some of the famous and unplanned moments that have occurred live on the Academy Awards stage throughout its 94-year-long run. And yet another was added to the list on March 28 when actor Will Smith stormed onto the stage and slapped award presenter Chris Rock. The "infraction"? Making a joke about Smith's wife Jada's hair loss, caused by her alopecia diagnosis.

As Smith shouted from his seat "keep my wife's name out of your f*cking mouth," viewers at home were left stunned and quickly took to social media to share their shock. Twitch streamers who were livestreaming the ceremony were similarly left astounded and shared their reactions with viewers.

Twitch Streamers Record Their Reaction To The Will Smith Chris Rock Slap

As news of the dramatic moment from the Oscars ceremony swept the internet, it wasn't long before it caught the attention of some Twitch streamers who were streaming at the time. For example, streamer "Pokelaws" was moments away from catching the clip live when he was informed of the drama by his chat. As viewers immediately began to speculate whether the slap had been planned as some kind of publicity stunt, Pokelaws responded: "It's not scripted, bro."

As the camera cuts to Smith screaming at Rock from the audience, Pokelaws said: "In all the movies, I've never seen him this mad."

Meanwhile, fellow Twitch streamer Charles "MoistCr1TiKaL" White's astonishment was caught during his livestream. Similarly to Poke, he agreed that the moment didn't look planned and there was "no sign of flinching" from Rock before Smith went in for the punch. The 27-year-old said: "If it was planned, Chris Rock has got an iron chin because that was f*cking huge."

Who Else Reacted To The Will Smith And Chris Rock Oscars Moment?

The slap was heard all around the world, and it wasn't long before some content creators took to social media to share their shock at the confusing exchange. Twitch streamer, Hasan "HasanAbi" Piker stated: "It was a perfect slap. Incredible execution. Heels planted firmly, fired from the hip. Connected immediately. Great follow-through. Chris Rock has boosted his defence stats. Took it like a champ."

Whereas, Ali "Myth" Kabbani, seemed to be on Smith's side: "I knew Will Smith was my idol for a reason." YouTuber Timothy "TimTheTatman" Betar, however, joked that Smith might be keen to erase the moment from our memories with a screenshot of him using a neuralyzer in Men In Black

As with any live show, Twitch has certainly had its own fair share of unplanned dramatic moments, like when one streamer was swatted live on-air and another was attacked while walking the streets of Amsterdam. However, it's safe to say that this awkward moment between Smith and Rock will continue to be a hot topic among many upcoming Just Chatting clips.
