News that VALORANT was going mobile was already confirmed, but it appears that even more platforms are going to get the opportunity to jump into Riot Games' tactical shooter. The developer is seemingly looking to hire two Senior Game Designers for a console version of the game.

And this tidbit isn't a leak or a rumour, with both job postings appearing on Riot Games' website. The postings don't give too many more console-specific details - and definitely no hints as to whether it will arrive on PlayStation, Xbox, or even Switch consoles. However, it does seem to confirm that its coming to mobile is just one part of a bigger plan to bring VALORANT to gamers everywhere.

As mentioned before, knowledge of a mobile version has long been known, confirmed by Riot Games back in June of last year when the game celebrated its first birthday. Little more is known about the port, but how both the mobile and console versions handle aiming and movement, key aspects of a tactical shooter like Valorant, will be fascinating.

How contentious those design decisions could prove was highlighted by the console job posting which stated that, as a Senior Game Designer, you would need to be able to handle receiving "charged" player feedback. Using it as an "opportunity" to "improve the product."

It also states that applicants should have "shipped or worked on one console based AAA+ online competitive game," which points to a game that is unlikely to stray too far from VALORANT's winning formula.

A definitive release date for the console version of VALORANT is not yet clear. Development of the Valorant Mobile has been going on long before it was officially announced, and going off the number of job postings for that on the Riot Games website, there still appears there is a lot of work to be done before priorities shift to a console release.

It's clear that fans are unlikely to need to wait as long as it took for League of Legends to get its mobile port. League of Legends: Wild Rift launched on Apple iOS and Android in 2020, over ten years after the initial PC release, with Riot's MOBA having now spawned five games, three virtual bands, and a hit Netflix series.

An estimated guess would put Valorant Mobile for a beta release in Q4 2022, with console owners having to wait until 2023 to find out if Riot Games has managed the impossible and made a game that rewards precision aiming and precise movement work with a controller.
