The long-awaited Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 2 is finally here. It has been a little over four months since the release of Fortnite Chapter 2, and in that time the game has seen minimal updates and changes. Apart from a couple of things like the new harpoon gun and the Fortnite X Star Wars event, the game once known for its constant updates has become stagnant. That all changed today with the release of Season 2. Here is what you need to know:

Patch Notes

For whatever reason, the developers over at Epic Games have stopped providing the player base with patch notes to accompany each update. Thankfully, Reddit user u/hostdam did their own investigating and has uncovered all of the new additions/changes.

Chapter 2 - Season 2 Battle Pass

The new battle pass has brought with it some never-before-seen additions. Starting right at tier 1, you unlock Gear Specialist Maya. Maya can be completely customized to the player’s will. She has over 3.8 MILLION style combinations to choose from. NOTE: once confirmed, your choices are PERMANENT. Players will never be able to go back and tune or adjust Maya’s appearance. This may seem like a bummer at first, but it ensures every Fortnite player essentially gets their own unique, original skin. This is surely a test run for future skins and cosmetics Epic Games intends to introduce as the season goes on.

Continuing with the innovation, Epic Games has implemented a faction system to many of the battle pass skins. Players can choose to align with either the GHOST or the SHADOW faction. The skins will have a different style depending on which faction players align with. Once again, this decision is permanent. Once made, it can not be reversed. Early speculation is that the choice players make here will come into play later in the season in the form of some in-game event. For example, a GHOST vs. SHADOW battle.

This is just the beginning of what's to come with Season 2. With the update dropping only a few hours ago, players are bound to continue uncovering secrets. Stay tuned here at GGRecon for the latest on Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 2.
