Corpse Husband has been on YouTube for a while, but it was only in 2020 when he started joining popular streamers Pewdiepie and Pokimane for weekly games of Among Us that he rose to the prominence.

If you’ve heard Corpse speak before, then you’ll be aware that he has quite possibly the growliest, deep tone in the world - but it turns out there’s actually a reason behind his husky voice.

While many have speculated that the streamer may be using a vocoder to alter the tone of his voice, it appears that Corpse (real name and identity currently unknown) may have a medical condition that affects his vocal cords, thus delivering the iconic deep growl we all know and love. According to a YouTube fandom page, Corpse was reportedly born with GERD, or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, which is the constant reoccurrence of gastroesophageal reflux.

For someone who has GERD, their stomach acid constantly flows up into the oesophagus, which can then over time irritate the vocal cords, throat and oesophagus, changing the potential tone of their voice and give it that deeper, raspier edge.

Corpse has been a YouTuber since 2015, where he focused on using his unique voice to tell horror stories that had been submitted to him via his online network of followers. He’d also find interesting Reddit stories to put into YouTube videos, but this year the streamer found himself also dabbling in music, and as of the time of writing Corpse has over 1 million followers on Twitter.

Not much is known about the true identity of Corpse Husband, and as of right now all fans have to go off is the fact he’s a 23-year-old from San Diego. He has teased potentially revealing his face to fans over the years, but worries he won’t be able to handle the pressures that being in the public eye brings with it.
