It was a good run, but Félix "xQc" Lengyel has bowed out of Among Us after the backlash he's received. While InnerSloth's outer space murder mystery has been out since 2018, no one expected its recent boom in popularity and rise to the top of the Twitch charts. Big names like Tyler "Ninja" Blevins and Imane "Pokimane" Anys have also blasted off for rounds of Among Us, however, xQc is arguably the one that has made a name for himself with the title.

Although xQc has risen to the top of Twitch and is currently the service's most popular streamer, that hasn't stopped him turning his back on the game that put him there. In a recent Twitch stream, Lengyel explained, "A lot of livestream fails people, need hate in their life to guide them through their normal hurdles. They need to feel something, they need to chase demons that aren’t there, to feel like their life is worth living, and since I won’t be playing anymore, they won’t have anything to clip anymore".

The move comes after xQc came under fire for his outspoken rants while streaming Among Us. Pokimane said the game's lobbies are "not the most enjoyable" after she'd played alongside xQc. She found herself in the spotlight as a potential Imposter and didn't have time to plead her case before she was promptly given the boot.

Speaking in the aftermath, Poki said, "That was such a last-second Andy sh*t and of course, if it’s xQc, we must all listen. Literally, imagine we have three seconds to plead your case and then just boom you’re dead. Not going to lie, that makes the lobby not the most enjoyable".

On October 5, it was suggested that over 16.9 million hours of xQc's stream have been watched in the past 30 days, which is a mind-boggling statistic on its own.

Considering xQc has overtaken Ninja, Turner "Tfue" Tenney, and Michael "shroud" Grzesiek to claim the Twitch crown, it will be interesting to see whether he can hold onto it without his Among Us fanbase. Yes, he may have had the odd rant, but let's be honest, that was part of the reason we tuned in to watch his streams.
