xQc Has Officially Been Banned From Twitch - Again
If there's one thing Felix "xQc" Lengyel knows how to do well, it's to cause a drama. As well as being known as the most-viewed Twitch streamer of 2020, xQc have become infamous for being an outspoken Canadian content creator who likes to ruffle a few feathers. Now, xQc is the tool of his own demise and has been banned from Twitch.
When he's not butting heads with Kaitlyn "Amouranth" Siragusa or calling out Imane "Pokimane" Anys, xQc is busy being embroiled in gambling stream drama, being branded "disgusting" for his streaming setup, or being permabanned from the GTA Role Play NoPixel server. It's always a wild ride that you know will bring the views, however, not if he's banned from Twitch.
Why has xQc been banned from Twitch?
While Lengyel is no stranger to being slapped with a Twitch ban, his latest boot is a bizarre turn of events that appears to just be some bad luck on xQc's behalf. According to Inven Global, xQc was banned on July 28 for streaming the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Apparently, xQc's stream included multiple clips of the Olympic Games. Several parts of hid video were silenced over copyright claims. After being banned, Lengyel took to Twitter and confirmed he'd received a "Live-DMCA" strike.
The last image seen on xQc Twitch channel before it went dark was a Judo match between Austria’s Michaela Polleres and Japan’s Arai Chizuru. Whether it was through Twitch or xQc himself, the Judo stream is no longer available on his channel.
It's no secret that The International Olympic Committee is protective of its trademarks. Effectively being the Nintendo of the sporting world, the Olympic Committee is not one to be messed with. In 2016, the US Olympic Committee went as far as sending warning letters to companies that used hashtags like #TeamUSA and #Rio2016.
Is xQc still banned from Twitch?
If you're already missing xQc and questioning what will fill the foul-mouthed void left behind him, fear not. Inven Global confirms that xQc was officially unbanned later on July 28 - serving a total of 4 hours 55 minutes in Twitch jail.
In the aftermath of his latest ban, xQc has vowed to do better. Tweeting his 6 million followers, xQc said, "Sorry for everyone involved, including the viewers. I'll be better/smarter next time and follow guidelines more strictly".
Lengyel isn't alone in his Twitch troubles, though. As reported by the Manchester Evening News, several Twitch streamers have been struck y DMCA bans for streaming in public places near the Tokyo Olympic venue.
It's strange to see xQc apologise, but it might have something to do with the new DMCA guidelines. There's a three strike and you're out policy, which probably explains why xQc is being more polite than usual.
