Mario Kart is an utterly timeless franchise. When the world collapses and we descend into apocalypse, we're willing to bet that the video game that survivors wistfully remember around the campfire is Mario Kart - lamenting their time making Luigi their b*tch with a blue shell.

Mario Kart is an icon of pop culture in itself, with each of its instalments bringing something new to the table that doesn't squander its legacy. But there are still titles that never saw the light of day - and one for the Game Boy Advance has finally been unveiled.

Mario Kart XXL Has Finally Been Revealed

Back in the GBA days of the franchise, the success of Mario Kart: Super Circuit prompted developers to come up with their own pitches for the series' future, and one company came forward with a concept titled Mario Kart XXL.

Developed by Denaris Entertainment Software, Mario Kart XXL was never greenlit or revealed to anyone beyond footage of a tech demo, but was rediscovered as test footage has revealed a few years ago. Now, one YouTuber has been able to unearth the whole demo.

The demo has been revealed by YouTuber Hard4Games, who digs around in the game that takes on a unique camera perspective for a handheld Mario Kart game. The camera hangs in the air as the karts pootle around the track, with a pretty gross-looking Mario build driving his Kart around the game.

YouTuber Reveals Buried Racing Game

Along with the missing Mario Kart game, the video details the demo of a game titled only R3D-Demo, a game created by racing game icons Codemasters.

The outing seems to follow similar design philosophies to Mario Kart XXL, in a game that looks incredibly similar to the Micro Machines series. Who knows, maybe it was a scrapped build for that series, and we may truly never know? Either way, the video is a fascinating look at the racing games we never got. And to be honest, we're kinda mad about it.
