The FIFA 23 power shot technique is one of the new ways you can attack the goal, and it can be really quite effective if you use it right. Long shots have been relatively forgotten in FIFA outside of the finesse shot, but they could be due a comeback with the introduction of the power shot. So, to find out how to use the FIFA 23 power shot, make sure to check out the rest of this guide below.

If you're looking to perform the FIFA 23 power shot technique, then all you need to do is hold down L1 and R1 (LB and RB on Xbox), and then press the shoot button, which is usually mapped to circle or B, depending on your console.

Performing this action will make your player take a short pause with a run-up, and then blast the ball towards the goal with far more power than a regular shot. This is excellent if you're wanting to try out some shots from outside of the box, as traditionally only finesse shots have troubled the goalkeeper from this distance.

You will need to be careful when enacting the shot, however, as it is entirely manually aimed, meaning that you are in complete control of where the ball flies and there is no assistance in any form. This should help curb the otherwise overpowered nature of the shot, as you have to employ some form of skill to actually get it on target, and are therefore rewarded for your accuracy.

While it might seem like a great opportunity any time that you're on the edge of the 18-yard box, the FIFA 23 power shot does have some downsides that can be easily exploited if you're not careful.

The most obvious weakness of the power shot is its long windup time, which leaves your player open for a tackle, or allows the opponent to line up a block. Therefore, your best use cases are either when you're completely open, or your opposition is out of position and cannot reach you in time.

With the removal of AI auto blocks from this year's game, it should be much easier to fire a shot into a semi-crowded penalty box, allowing you to punish players who want to sit back and give you all the time on the ball.

The other fantastic use case for the FIFA 23 power shot is when you're approaching the goalkeeper in a one-on-one, as it is far harder to save than a traditional shot and gives you in theory more precision than you would otherwise if you have assisted shots on.

Again, the main thing you have to be careful of is making sure that you've got enough time to wind up the shot, as your opponent could very easily rush their goalkeeper out and collect the ball before you've had the chance to shoot.

So, that's everything you need to know about the FIFA 23 power shot, letting you in on how to perform the technique, and the best situations to use it in. If you're wondering what the best players to use the power shot with are though, make sure to have a look at any of the attackers in our FIFA 23 ratings list.
