The Valderas Museum was available during Modern Warfare 2 beta. However, many players did not like it because of an imperfect map design that gave a competitive advantage to players depending on which side they spawned. It also had too much open space and many other factors that made many players' experience rather infuriating.

Still, many players liked the Valderas Museum map, and it didn't take much time for players to notice that it was missing from the final game.

At the same time, Activision was reportedly on the verge of getting a lawsuit from The Conservatorium Hotel, which didn't like the in-game representation of the hotel in the Amsterdam level. They were seemingly not the only ones who were unhappy with Activision for using their lookalike without permission.

However, with the full MW2 Season 2 reveal, the Valderas Museum map is finally making its way back into the game.

If you didn't know, the Valderas Museum map in Modern Warfare 2 beta is almost identical to the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, California.

Many people suspect that the Valderas Museum map got removed from Modern Warfare 2 because of its similarities with the Getty museum and to avoid any potential lawsuit that might cost Activision more than what the map's existence could have brought.

There is still no given reason as to why the map was removed in the first place despite the speculation, but with its imminent return whatever issues might have occurred have likely been solved. Whether the map arrives in the exact same state is still yet to be seen, as subtle changes might need to have been made in order to avoid any further complaints.
