How To Save In One Piece Odyssey
The popular anime has finally made the jump to full-on JRPG with the release of One Piece Odyssey, and it brings all the trappings you usually expect from the genre. For better or worse, players jumping into this adventure will venture into all the classic genre tropes, with saving the game being one of them.
Having such a long journey to embark on, you don’t want to miss out on losing too much progress in the event of a system failure or rage quitting after a rather challenging boss fight. If you’re wondering just how exactly to save to avoid that risk, here’s how to save when playing One Piece Odyssey.

How To Save In One Piece Odyssey
One Piece Odyssey borrows many genre trappings from classic JRPGs. If you’ve played titles such as Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy, you’ll feel right at home, but if you're new to everything the genre has to offer, how saving works can seem a bit convoluted for newcomers, and maybe even some JRPG veterans.
Unfortunately, unlike more modernised JRPGs that allow you to save anyway, One Piece Odyssey strips you of this ability. Instead, the game harkens back to true old-school gameplay, as you’ll only be able to save at specific points in the game. Thankfully, the game does autosave fairly frequently to avoid you losing too much in case of an error.
There’s no ability to manually save your progress while exploring, so always make sure you know where the nearest save point is in One Piece Odyssey. They also work to refill your health in a pinch, and if you happen to die in battle, you will respawn at the nearest one you saved at.
It’s a shame One Piece Odyssey hasn’t modernised its saving mechanics to make it a bit more accessible, but if you’re a fan of the classic PS2 era of RPGs, you’ll feel right at home with this more hardcore style.
