Since its rocky and bug-filled launch in October 2022, Overwatch 2 has become a hit success following the whirlwind storm that was the original Overwatch. As with any successful MMO sequel, Overwatch 2 released with new characters along with returning fan favourites, as well as new maps and events this time, featuring a Greek mythology theme that would make any Percy Jackson fan happy. Overwatch 2: What Is The 2023 Player Count?
Overwatch 2 doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. Unsurprising given the susses of its predecessor which hit 7 million layers in its first week and became Blizzard's fastest-selling console game of all time. Overwatch 2 is reported to have had over 37 million players during its first month, according to an Activision Q3 earnings report.
Activision is usually tight-lipped about the exact player count, but this information is safe to assume according to the report and the tweet from the official Overwatch account listed above. According to their page, the game received over 25 million players within the first ten days of the launch of Overwatch 2.
There are several live number trackers which give an estimate of current players in the game. These sites such as Active Player go one step further by compiling the data of users per month to see how much the game has grown and maintained its audience.
So far, the numbers continue to rise each month as returning and new players alike share the game. They also track how the game is performing via the number of hours of Twitch views. As such, the game appears to be as popular as ever.
