Pokemon Legends Arceus Mass Outbreaks: How To Unlock
Click to enlargePokemon Legends Arceus introduces new features and systems gradually over the course of the story. Some are more random than others, such is the case with Mass Outbreaks. Seemingly, Mass Outbreaks in Pokemon Legends Arceus can happen almost any time after the game opens up for you.
To find out if a Mass Outbreak is active, head to the main gate. The guard will tell you if there is currently a Mass Outbreak in any particular area. Although Mass Outbreaks can happen at any time, it is likely that having more areas unlocked will help increase your chances of an outbreak.
To try and force one to happen, you can repeatedly head back and forth between Jubilife and any area in the hopes that the guard will eventually tell you that a Mass Outbreak has occurred. When he does, head to the area on the map where the outbreak is marked.

Click to enlargeWhen you get to the region where the Mass Outbreak is happening, check your map to find out exactly where the Pokemon are. Head to that area and you should see a large number of that Pokemon present. It's up to you what you do with them, depending on what you are looking for. If you simply want to catch a bunch of Pokemon to fill out your Pokedex, that's great! You'll notice that as you catch or defeat Pokemon at a Mass Outbreak, more will start to appear.
Another reason you might be here is in hope of catching a shiny Pokemon. The odds of a Pokemon in a Mass Outbreak being shiny are higher than otherwise. If you have reached research level 10 with that Pokemon it increases further. Add to that the sheer number of Pokemon at a Mass Outbreak and you have the best odds of finding a shiny in the game.
It is possible to save your game at Jubilife Village when a Mass Outbreak is active, so you can reload and try multiple times. Excellent news for shiny hunters!
