Warzone 2 Gulag: Everything You Need To Know About The New 2v2 Gulag

Call of Duty developers set Warzone on a pedestal over its battle royale competitors with one simple feature, which totally redefined how the genre was played: the Gulag. 

The last-man-standing element of a BR was epitomised by this 1v1 showdown, serving as a last-chance saloon for one player to return to the frontline and send another foe packing to the loading screen. 

But the Warzone 2 Gulag is changing, and while it will still be a clever way of returning players back to the game, you're now going to have to be reliant on more than just your gunny.

The major change for the Warzone 2 Gulag is an increased number of players. What used to be a straight-up 1v1 has now turned into a team-based game, where you will be paired with a random duo for the chance to survive.

The arena has been expanded to allow for two pairs of players, with ground loot being scattered across the floor. You'll start with either a pistol or a shotgun, a lethal grenade, and a tactical grenade, but can pick up additional weapons towards the centre of the arena. 

If you wager your skills in combat you can eliminate both enemies from the Warzone 2 Gulag and get back into action.

Or, you can all work together to leave or die by the hand of the Jailer...

Warzone 2 Gulag: Jailer

All four players are now faced with the dilemma of taking each other on or working together to defeat a common enemy: the Jailer.

The Warzone 2 Gulag system will have one AI in the centre, named the Jailer, who has the keys to cells. Boasting a mass amount of health and a mini-gun activated by shooting the first bullets, the Jailer can be killed, and upon its death, all four players can return to Al Mazrah. Fail, and you all lose. No overtime is added.

So, the Warzone 2 Gulag offers much more to think about, and poses a Goldenballs-esque steal or split morality measure. Whose to say that you're safe from opponents, even if you're all fighting the Jailer...

As always though, the Gulag serves as a one-per-game opportunity to redeploy without having to be bought back, even if it is much more complicated than the 1v1 gun and run style born in Verdansk.
