Well, that didn't take long did it? Just hours after Imane "Pokimane" Anys announced she would be the first Twitch streamer to put a cap on the amount fans can donate to her, Félix "xQc" Lengyel has clapped back at the idea and called out his fellow content creator for setting a potential precedent across the board.

Pokimane is trying to change the way the streaming giant works and capped the amount viewers can donate at $5. Instead, she's asking them to donate the rest of their money elsewhere.

While both Twitch and Pokimane are remaining tight-lipped on exactly what she earns, the fact she's the woman with the most subscribers means she could earn a pretty penny from her time on the platform. That being said, full-time streamers rely on donations for a lot of their salary, meaning Pokimane could be negatively affecting her own bank balance with the latest move.

What does xQc think?

While there was plenty of praise for Anys' "selfless" act, not everyone was a supporter and the jury is out on whether others should follow suit. Among those who were divided by her ideology was xQc. The Canadian streamer posted his own response and fairly pointed out that not every Twitch streamer can afford to cap their donations. xQc reiterated that Pokimane gets a lot of her money from other deals, claiming that she doesn't really need the money from donations.

Discussing Pokimane's decision, xQc explained that people should just be more positive in general. He told viewers, "Every time that one creator does something that's good, for some reason, everybody, instead of saying 'that's good', they are not doing that.

"Instead, they say all the other ones not doing it are bad. And that's a really, really odd way of thinking. This happens on Twitch across the board anytime somebody does something, it's always like this".

Will other streamers follow in Pokimane's footsteps?

xQc went on to imply he won't be taking a leaf out of Pokimane's book by capping his donations. “I think it’s important to not go roll people over because somebody did something good", he continued. "I’m sure if I look through any of the comments, some of them will s**t on people who aren’t doing it".

This isn't the first time Pokimane and xQc have butted heads on their views. There have been bubbling tensions for a while, and Pokimane didn't mince her words after a game of Among Us back in September.

When xQc took control of a game and gave Pokimane the boot, she snapped back and said, "That was such a last-second Andy sh*t and of course, if it’s xQc, we must all listen. Literally, imagine we have three seconds to plead your case and then just boom you’re dead. Not going to lie, that makes the lobby not the most enjoyable".

Lengyel himself claimed he was stepping down from playing InnerSloth's social deduction game due to the "hate" he receives, however, it's important to remember Among Us was the game that rocketed him to the top of the Twitch charts with a whopping 16.9 million hours of his streams being watched between September and October. As it stands, he's still very much playing Among Us

While Lengyel isn't necessarily starting an argument with Pokimane this time, he's made his feelings about a donation cap pretty clear. Elsewhere, there were those who called Pokimane out and asked why doesn't she simply accept the larger donations and give anything over $5 to charity - that way knowing it goes to the right place. Whether or not her idea catches on remains to be seen.
